More than a year has past since the last post and a lot has happened. I'll try to relate it in chronological order and add pictures if i find them later!
First big ride
Not long after our last post we cycled from Carmarthen to Porthcawl mostly following Cycle Route 4.
HERE is the exact route- about 95km. Took us about 7 hours. First time riding any distance with full panniers. We took over night stuff and "normal" clothes and shoes. As well as water and food the weight on the tandem was quite noticeable but not unmanageable. Still it was very tiring and although much of the route was excellent and ,at times, beautiful the section leading out of Swansea and into Port Talbot was pretty horrible. Very poor cycle path surface and not great views. Still we did it and felt quite inspired by what we had achieved.
More Bits, More Rides
We continued to ride around the Carmarthen area whenever we could. It really is a great place to cycle with plenty of lanes to explore, scenic coastal routes and challenging hills. I also started doing a lot more solo cycling. Most of the pictures are from my explorations of Carmarthenshire.
We got a couple of leather touring saddles, leather bar tape, a shiny brass bell and new Jagwire cable outers with Fibrax cables. Comfort, braking and shifting performance very much improved.
Later on (after moving house) I fitted a bigger outer chainring (Stronglite 48) and upgraded the front dérailleur.
And now....
THE FUTURE
