Le Crotoy to Saint Valerie sur Somme

Took ages to pack up. Picked  up a very good cycle path to Saint Valerie. Cycled through town across some pretty ferocious cobbles and up the first hill we had seen in two days, to our campsite. Cycled out to lidl to pick up supplies. Cycled back over cobbles and the front light snapped off! Created a washing line using the trailer flg and a tree  and tried to dry our towels. Had a beige meal using our free potatoes. Called it a day.

Sassetot le Conduit to Etretat

Cycled to Fecamp and stopped for lunch. Moved on to Etretat . Turns out to be a very busy tourist destination. Lots of coaches, expensive, but quite nice.

Travelling the Alabaster Coast

Bit of a gap since our last entry as we've been at sites without  wifi. After Montreuil we headed to Le Crotoy, lots of cycle paths, roads much flatter and plenty of campsites to choose from. On our way there we got some free potatoes that had fallen off a tractor as we rode by. After setting up camp at Les Maguerites we cycled back into town without the bags and had our first meal out...moules and frites followed by icecream.  Our longest day so far at 50km.

Day 1! Calais!

We caught an early morning ferry so that we would dodge traffic when we arrived at Calais. It was a little confusing finding the right place to check in, but after that it was dead easy. The P&O staff were helpful and friendly both on and off the boat.
Securing your bike is your own responsibility. A bike rack is bolted to the floor and straps are provided but the rest is up to you!

Training Ride to Brecon

Did a ride from Bridgend to Brecon. Stayed overnight at a really nice little campsite just outside of Brecon called Priory Mill Farm. It was our first venture with a loaded trailer and our first overnighter! In light of the bigger adventure ahead in seems a little weedy, but at the time it was pretty exiting.
Taking in the Bwlch and the Rhigos we were pretty knackered at the end of it but the long decent into Brecon from Storey Arms made it all worthwhile!

THE FUTURE!!!

We are going traveling by tandem! Currently we are surrounded by boxes, pannier bags and a selection of bicycle tools. Having packed in our jobs, packed up our house and relocated all our junk into our (very obliging) parents spare rooms we are almost ready to start our adventure en France.  After a couple of months of dreaming and absolutely no planning it's a bit mad to think we're off. We will be cycling out of Calais, heading south; then across to the Alps and into Italy if we're not sick of cycling by then! They're pretty much the only plans we have made, not even booked a ferry yet!
There are a few places we'd like to to visit along the way including Puy du Fou
