La Rochelle to Hourtin Plage

Moving on we headed out of the city via the Velo Odyssee 1 cycle path, which took us to Fouras and a closed campsite. Continuing along the cycle path we skirted around Rochefort to Tonay Cha
rente. Crossed an awesome bridge. Super noodle chilli lentil lunch then on to Marrenes where we got lost for a while before finding our target: a massive bridge, lit up like a Christmas tree. Cycled over it and on to the coastal cycle path before setting up camp near the beach. Saw a deer and a wild boar with wild boarletts.

Set out on the Velo Odyssee 1 which took us through Coubre forest and to a much needed stop at St-Palais-sur-mer. Lunch at Super U and met the mayor of the town! Continued on the Velo Odyssee, which for this stretch of coast is excellent, to Royan where we waited for 2 hours for the ferry to Pointe de Grave. After the ferry we followed the cycle path to Hourtin-Plage. Long, straight, not necessarily direct, monotonous, windy and generally featureless. Yup, that about sums up that evenings cycling.
